Flight was delayed 2 hours due to technical issues they were having at Zurich airport according to the swiss agent when I called. This caused my connection flight to be unviable. The swiss agent was helpful in finding me a partner airline to fulfill my need to get to final destination in eastern Europe. However, the only flight the agent was originally able to find me was a connecting flight through Frankfurt with a 7 hour layover and not only that but they didnt have space on the flight without upgrading me to a higher cabin class at my expense of 384 euro. I asked if this could be waived since the technical issues were not my fault from the beginning and the agent stated they arent. I ended up paying the extra 384 euro for the agent to call me back an hour later stating he found another flight through Munich with only an hour and a half layover which was great, but when I asked for the 384 euros to be refunded he stated that was included in the price difference for this flight and there was nothing he could do about that. I feel like I got scammed out of that 384 euros as that was a cabin upgrade for a flight I never ended up taking that was supposed to be my replacement for an error they were having on their end. I am grateful for the agent finding me replacement flights that worked in my favor time wise but not in being swindled out of extra charges. I also paid 85 USD to "pick my seats" (which honestly feels like a cash grab on behalf of airlines these days anyways) on my original swiss flight that I did not receive back either since I could not pick my seats on the replacement flights as well. Way to use flight delays for swindling your customers Swiss. Kayak was great as usual but I did not have any communications with Kayak directly for this ordeal it was all through Swiss airlines.

Namibia, Africa’s youngest nation, is bordered by Angola, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa and is divided up in four geographical regions – Namib, the Skeleton Coast, the Kalahari Basin, and Kavango and Caprivi.

Namibia’s landscape is lined with deserts, forests and coastal scenery, and the country’s natural resources are bountiful.

Many travelers book flights to Namibia each year to see the diverse cultures and enjoy the beautiful 300 days of sunshine a year. But those travelers booking flights to Namibia should know this country is not without its struggles. Despite its political unrest and cultural crisis, Namibia maintains its resort-like status for many travelers and relies on tourism to fund the small nation.

Most travelers book flights to Namibia’s resort areas during school vacations and South African holidays, but the country welcomes Namibia flights any time of year.

Namibia climate

Namibia is hot; very hot. This desert country can see temperatures of 104 F in the summer. It’s a bit cooler on the coast.

Best Time to Fly to Namibia

Booking flights to Namibia between November and February means light thunderstorms and showers, but its year-round draw makes Namibia a great choice no matter when you decide to travel.

Peak Season: Namibia is considered a year round destination, so while some winter evenings can drop below freezing, temperatures typically sit between 64-77 degrees F. Especially if you book flights to Namibia between May and September, the weather will be pleasant and commensurate with game viewing.

Off-peak Season: Less travelers book flights to Namibia during the summer months of October and April because the 100-degree weather is enough to drive most tourists back inside for the day. If the heat doesn’t bother you, then it’s the perfect time to find great deals and cheap flights to Namibia.

Getting around Namibia

For domestic Namibia flights from Eros Airport to Ondangwa, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Luderitz, Oranjemund and Katima Mulilo, Air Namibia is your best bet.

For another Namibia travel option, train service runs to South Africa through the Shongololo Express, as well as other companies like Bushveld Train Safaris, Rovos Rail, and Desert Express. Schedules are available at all stations, and overnight sleeping cars can be arranged for longer distances.

The Interscape Mainliner run bus service between bigger towns, and connects with Johannesburg, Cape Town, and South Africa.

The following chart gives approximate journey times from Windhoek (in hours and minutes) to other major cities and towns in Namibia.

Namibia Travel Information

  • Etosha National Park: A few days a year, the desert turns into lagoon with flamingos and pelicans splashing in the rain and taking advantage of the greenery and grasslands that flourish within the 7,722-square mile span of land. If you’re booking flights to Namibia with wildlife in mind, this is the place to visit. More than 100 mammal species, 340 birds, 16 kinds of reptiles, and amphibians, and plenty of insects, you won’t be disappointed. Most travelers rent a vehicle and park near the waterhole to watch the spectacle of lions, elephants, and springboks go for a drink.
  • Fish River Canyon: Over 99 miles long and 17 miles wide, Fish River Canyon gives campers booking flights to Namibia the perfect opportunity to pause the hike and relax in the nearby hot springs. Take a stroll around the shore or wander into the woods to experience the outdoors at its finest. For more direction, visit the Hobas information center on the northern end, where picnic sites, camp grounds, and walking trails supply the best views in the canyon.
  • Sossusvlei: Book flights to Namibia to experience one of the oldest ecosystems on the planet. • Swakopmund: If you’re in the mood for a little nightlife after your long flight to Namibia, head to Swakopmund, one of the most popular summer destinations in the country.
