Located in sunny Mexico, Huatulco offers a Pacific coastal community which means it enjoys typically tropical conditions. From April to August the city is very hot with March and September still hot and humid. If heat and tropical weather don’t suit you, you may want to visit during November to February when the temperatures are lower. As far as rainfall goes, October is the best month to visit. May/June and September/October are rainy months in the area. September is, by far, the wettest month.
The off-peak seasons in the city are the rainy periods in May/June and September/October and the very hottest part of the year. However if you don’t mind some rain you can find good deals during the rainy season and the very hot months. Festive times such as Christmas, New Year and the Mexican holiday festivals are an expensive time of the year in the city.

This coastal town in Mexico offers typical seaside ambience and activities and is a good choice for singles, couples and families. The sunshine and sea offer a great vibe for relaxation, play and bonding. Like many Mexican cities, it has an exotic, ethnic flavor, combined with a cityscape that is vibrant and contemporary. No less than 36 sandy beaches make up the coastline. Diving, snorkeling and boating or yachting are all available in this great city and are accessible by foot, taxi or boat. The Botazoo Ecological Park is a great way to learn about the area’s nature and wildlife. The Iguana Sanctuary, Copalita River and waterfalls and the Mazunte Turtle Sanctuary make great day trips.
At La Gloria you can see a working coffee plantation and see how they harvest and prepare your favorite drink. At La Bocana you can get a Zapoteca mud bath to help you relax and unwind. If retail therapy is more your taste, shopping in the area is quite good and there are several markets in the area where you can get arts, crafts and local produce. Eating is also good in Huatulco, and you can choose from local Mexican fare and seafood, or more contemporary eateries selling pizza and burgers. Bars, clubs and discos offer some exciting night time entertainment.
Taxis are plentiful and reasonably priced and are the best way to get around. It is not recommended to take taxis or buses that are not official vehicles or to explore on foot or bicycle.
The closest airport to the city is the Huatulco International Airport (HUX). It is easy to get to your hotel from the airport. You could choose to rent a car, or rent a taxi. Taxis are freely available at the airport and rental is very cheap. It’s a good idea to settle the price you’ll pay before leaving the airport. Top car rental companies are located at the airport should you prefer the comfort of a private car, which is also a great choice for sightseeing and road trips to nearby areas.
